Hooray for leaving day! Suite cases packed, goodbyes said, letters written. I am ready. After two full years of planning, organizing my schedule, and tons of essays for the application... I'm going to Italy!
“I could not have known then that everybody, every person, has to leave, has to change like seasons; they have to or they die. The seasons remind me that I must keep changing.”
― Donald Miller, Through Painted Deserts: Light, God, and Beauty on the Open Road
To quote one of my favorite authors again, Donald Miller puts change as a good thing. As a thing we all must do. What would happen if we stayed the same? Stayed in our comfortable lives with ready made challenges like which outfit should I wear tomorrow or do I really have to wake up everyday at 7am for work. Staying with the known. It's easy to get into a routine or schedule where life just starts to pan out the way you always wanted. Or do life the way you've always known just because it's "right" in your mind. My friend told me this quote yesterday, "If you want something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done."
How many of us want something that is out of our reach? Not for a selfish reason but just want to do something or go somewhere or try something just because? We do only live one life and I do believe God wants us to enjoy life with Him on this earth. So why not go skydiving just because, why not save up and take a trip to Italy, why not risk your heart to fall in love?
If you want it bad enough, what is stopping you? Debt, a job, lost hope...
Well I say, YOLO! (for those of you who do not know, you only live once).
Although I do not completely agree...it should be YOLT. You only live twice. Get it either you go to Heaven or Hell...soooo technically we have this life on earth than whatever way you decided after here. HA! Still, why not take a chance on change. You never know what might spark your heart or what new passions you will find. I am praying God speaks deeply to me about mine on this trip. Change can be good, change can be terrifying but in the end it needs to happen or we will never full live.
Leaving TODAY.
